Easy to follow debranding guide for w580i

             Follow these step by step directions (carefully) and in less than ten minutes you will have it debranded.

      WARNING: You will lose all your data when you flash your phone so please backup your phone before starting the process.

      Before you begin, please make sure you have the following files. If you do not have these files downloaded before you start the process
      you will make a mistake.

W580 FS
W580 Main
Custom firmware

This guide is divided into sections.
Finish a section completely before doing anything else on your computer.

Section 1: Getting Files and Basic Setup
Step 1: Get the files and Unpack everything onto your desktop.
Step 2: Install the USB Flash Driver onto your computer.
Step 3: Turn off your phone and remove your battery and SIM card.
Step 4: Put your battery back in. DO NOT TURN YOUR PHONE ON!
Step 5: Open the program XS++.













Section 2: Connecting Your Phone
Step 1: Under the XS++ Settings click connect.
Step 2:On the left side on the program you will see some blue text. It should say the following:
TURN OFF PHONE!
Hold 'C' Button on phone and connect phone NOW.
You have 30 seconds...
Step 3: Follow the instructions. Turn off the phone, and connect it while pressing the C key.
Please wait while the program is connecting your phone.
Step 4: You should get the message: "Ready for operation!"
READ the XS++ log...
Go to the following section:

Profiling SEMC phone...
Platform: DB2020
OTP CID: 51
EROM CID: 52
EROM Color: Red

Your log should match what is written above. If it does not look like the above, email me with your log and DO NOT continue with this guide. I will look over it and tell you where to go from there.









Section 3: Flashing the Phone
Step 1: In XS++, under Flash Firmware, check both the Flash Main Firmware and the Flash File System.
Then browse for the files on your desktop.

For the section Flash Main Firmware:
Broswe for the file named "W580_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52.mbn".
(If you are not using the US/AMERICA files, your file name will be different)

For the section Flash File System:
Browse for the file "W580_R8BE001_FS_AMERICA_1_RED52.fbn".

Flash Main Firmware will be the '.mbn' file and Flash File System will be the 'fbn' file.

Step 2: Please make sure you did not screw up the files. Double and triple check to see if you put the files in correctly.
You will not be able to fix your phone if you reverse the files.
Flash Main Firmware will be the '.mbn' file and Flash File System will be the 'fbn' file.
Step 3: Under Procedure Control click 'flash'. Please do not get confused with the flash listed under Configuration.
Step 4: Please wait until it is done. It should take about 5 minutes. (It really depends on your computer speed)
Step 5: When the flashing is done you should get the following message on the left side of the program:
Done Flashing
++ Flashing was successful
Disconnected... Unplug the Phone

***You are not done yet. DO NOT open up your phone. If you do, you will get a network error.

Next you will need to put the custom files into your phone.






Section 4a: Custom Firmware Files - Part 1
Step 1: Repeat sections 1 and 2 again.
Step 2: Under configuration select the FSX option.
You should be presented with the following blue message:

After making any changes with FSX
you must press the 'Shutdown' button

Step 3: Next click on the Start FSX under the control section.
Wait a minute or two and you should get a green message saying:

Device FS mapped...OK!





















 

Section 4b - Custom Firmware Files - Part 2
Step 1: In XS++ under Filesystem Explorer open the following:
tpa\preset\custom
open by pressing on the + sign
Step 2: On your desktop open the custom folder.
Step 3: Drag and drop all the files in the custom folder from your desktop
                to the Enumerated Files section of XS++
Allow XS++ some time to copy the files onto your phone. It should take a couple of seconds.
Step 4: When it is done, hit the Shutdown button
You should be presented with a popup saying:

FSX will shutdown services ... OK?

Press Yes. 








































Section 5: Basic phone setup
Step 1: Unplug your phone, put in your SIM card and open it.
You should be presented with a prompt to connect to the internet to retrieve internet settings.
Please allow it to connect to the internet so the phone can configure your internet, txt msg,etc... settings. If you do not do this step, you will have trouble going online or texting later on.

Continue with setting up your phone.

You now have a working debranded w580i phone.

Congrats! you have flashed your phone for FREE.
